Excerpt 1:
1: The phrase “Schrödinger’s Cat” refers to a thought experiment by a physicist, Erwin Schrödinger, in 1935. The idea he was trying to prove is not really the point anymore, because the phrase has come into popular culture with a different idea behind it. The popular understanding of the phrase is: If you sealed a cat in a box with a mechanism that may or may not kill the cat, before the box is opened, you can’t know if the cat is alive or dead.
