Hello! Our next English Discussion meeting will be held at The Studio, on Sunday May 30th at 3pm.
This article was written by J.K. Rowling, of Harry Potter fame. In this article written in April, she is discussing the issues in the General Election that took place this spring in Britain—mainly the vilification of single mothers that routinely happens in the press, particularly around election time. I think it addresses the question of what happens when society supports particular lifestyle choices, and does not support others. How should government and society support people? Should social services and tax breaks be extended? Should these be tied to supporting or castigating behaviours and lifestyles?
How else should the problem of economic inequality be handled?
